Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is a medical disorder which claims the lives of nearly 3,000 babies one week to one year of age in the u.s. each year. Once known as crib death, these infant deaths remain unexplained after all known causes have been ruled out through autopsy, death scene investigation, and medical history. SIDS affects families of all races, religions, and income levels. It occurs during sleep, and strikes without warning. Its victims appear to be healthy. Neither parents nor doctors can tell which babies will die. The first year of life is a time of rapid growth and development when any baby may be vulnerable to SIDS.
Caressed by Angels
A song conceived because of grief yet born with hope and compassion is the story of “Caressed by Angels".
Recording artist Britt Albritton is the grandmother of “Cody”, a SIDS baby. Cody was born September 27, 1999 and died December 1, 1999. Britt is the mother of adult twin sons, Matthew and Marshall. In 1999 Britt received a phone call from Matthew that changed everyone’s life in their family. Matthew told Britt that her two-month old grandson, Cody, had died. She was only able to hold Cody for the first time at the funeral. Today, Britt, Gary, and Cody’s parents are continuing to cope with this. One of the ways to help themselves and others was to come up with a way to help eliminate SIDS for future families. This was the reason “Caressed by Angels” was written and recorded, and will be sent to radio and television stations throughout the country. Untold hours have been put into this song and the weeks and months ahead are aimed at making everyone in every household aware of SIDS and raise money for SIDS National Institute and SIDS Alliance.
The national SIDS institute, which is the research side and SIDS alliance, which is the family support side have joined forces and adopted “Caressed by Angels” as their national theme song.
The songwriter, Rhonnie Scheuerman, the producer, Cooter Daniels, and the recording artist, Britt Albritton have donated their time, given up their royalties, and given of their talents to insure “Caressed by Angels” will be heard by not only families who have lost children to SIDS but who have lost a child by any circumstance. “Caressed by Angels” was written with prayer and inspiration from God. I would like to ask each of you who have children, grandchildren, or know anyone who has children or grandchildren to help those families who have lost children to SIDS or who will lose children to SIDS in the future by donating $10.00. This money will be used for SIDS research and family support. Research will hopefully find the cause of SIDS and eliminate it. Family support will be there for any and all families who lose children until the day SIDS is eliminated.
Remember with each $10.00 donation comes either a tape or cd of “Caressed by Angels”. Orders can be placed by sending a check or money order to: ALLSIDS, 6900-29 Daniels Pkwy., #230, Fort Myers, FL 33912
Share this song with your loved ones and those that need comforting. “Caressed by Angels” is dedicated to Cody Ledon Albritton, who was born September 27, 1995 and died December 1, 1995. His short life was the inspiration for this song. His life will comfort those of us left behind. Cody will never be forgotten.
